Editorial Board Members

Lena Frischlich (PhD) is an associate professor at the Digital Democracy Centre of the University of Southern Denmark. Before that she was an interim professor at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich and a junior research group leader at the University of Münster, Germany. Her research focuses on online communication and the changing digital landscape. In particular, she studies the new socio-technological opportunities that emerge in the digital realm both for manipulative and harmful online communication (e.g., extremist propaganda, disinformation, hate speech) but also for empowering media users against such manipulative attempts. She studies these questions from an interdisciplinary and multi-methodological perspective, combining quantitative, qualitative, and computational measures. Besides that, she is also interested in positive media effects more generally.
