Raul Ferrer-Conill is an assistant professor in the Ander Centre for Research on News and Opinion in the Digital Era (NODE) at Karlstad University. His research investigates digital journalism, audience engagement, and the structural changes of play in society. Raul is the author of 'Gamifying the News: Exploring the Introduction of Game Elements into Digital Journalism,' and is the winner of the Swedish Association for Media and Communication Research (FSMK) best dissertation award. His doctoral thesis investigated the use of gamification in digital news production. Raul currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Journalism Studies division of NordMedia.
