Lothar Mikos is professor emeritus of television studies in the Department of Media Studies at the Filmuniversity Babelsberg in Potsdam, Germany, and honorary professor of media and communication studies at Free University Berlin, Germany. He founded the Television Studies Section of the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA). His main areas of work are global media and platform economy, digital distribution, digital transformation of television, transmedia storytelling, popular film and television genres and formats, and qualitative audience studies.
