Chiara Certomà (PhD) in Politics, Human Rights and Sustainability at Sant’Anna School (Pisa), is an assistant professor in political-economic geography at the University of Turin (with the DIGGEO@ESOMAS research group), a research fellow at Ghent University and at the Earth System Governance Research Network.

She researches and teaches at higher education institutions such as The Open University, Universitè Paris 1 “La Sorbonne,” Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society, Warsaw University of Life Sciences, University Paris Lodron Salzburg; BOKU University Wien, and at the Waikato University.

Charia is interested in innovative modes of socio-spatial governance and planning in the face of environmental challenges with expertise in participatory processes, citizen science, and grassroot sustainable innovation.
