Margrethe Aanesen

Margrethe Aanesen is a senior researcher at the Centre for Applied Research (SNF) at the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration (NHH), and former professor in environmental economics at the Arctic University of Norway (UiT).
Her main interests concern ecosystem services and developing price mechanisms and pricing such services in order to manage them more efficiently. Her work has mainly been on marine ecosystem services, including effects on the marine environment from economic activities like aquaculture, mining, and tourism.
Aanesen has been involved in several international projects on management of marine resources and works mainly with applied science aiming at informing decision-makers. In addition to the economic valuation of non-market goods and services, her work also includes analyses of stakeholder participation in the management of invasive species, and input to the management of marine plastic pollution, and blue energy. She works mainly with quantitative analytical methods.
