Christopher Witko is a professor of public policy and political science at the Pennsylvania State University, where he served as the associate director of the School of Public Policy from 2018-2022. He studies how interest groups, elites and public opinion influence policy, and how policy shapes and responds to economic changes, like growing inequality. He has published numerous journal articles and two coauthored books, The New Economic Populism: How States Respond to Economic Inequality and Hijacking the Agenda: Economic Power and Political Influence, which won the American Political Science Association’s Gladys M. Kammerer Award for best book on national policy.
