László Marácz has studied Hungarian language and literature and East European Studies at the University of Groningen. He defended his PhD dissertation in General Linguistics at the same university in 1989. In 1991-1992, Marácz has been granted the prestigious Niels Stensen Fellowship and was a visiting scientist at the Linguistics Department of MIT and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Since 1992, he is affiliated as a Senior Lecturer to the Department of European Studies of the University of Amsterdam. In 2015, Prof. Dr. Marácz has been awarded the title of ‘Honorary Professor’ at the L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University in Astana, Kazakhstan. He is vice-coordinator of the MIME consortium (www.project-mime.org) that won the European FP7-tender in 2013 under the reference of ‘SSH Call 2013.5.2-1: Multilingual Challenge for the European Citizen’. He has been publishing on a range of topics in Humanities & Social Sciences, including European studies, historical linguistics and cultural and linguistic diversity.
