Tineke van der Schoor

Tineke van der Schoor is a senior-researcher with the Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen. Her main research topics are the energy transition and sustainable building. Important themes are the new opportunities and challenges for citizens to produce renewable energy on a community scale; the conflict between historical values and energy retrofit and how to include lay values in conservation of historical towns and buildings. A recent theme is how to care for historical towns threatened by gas-induced earthquakes. In the past, Tineke worked with several environmental NGOs, and was involved in the negotiations leading up to the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, held in Rio in 1992. In the Netherlands, she coordinated a range of activities and publications regarding the implementation of sustainability on a local level.
