Markus Hesse is Senior Professor at the University of Luxembourg, Department of Geography & Spatial Planning. He holds academic degrees in Geography (Diploma), Spatial Planning (PhD) and Human Geography (post-doctoral). Current research focuses on financial centres, port city regions, and the science-policy interface in urban governance. Markus Hesse is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (RGS) of the UK, and in 2005 he was elected as a member of the Academy for Territorial Development in the Leibniz-Society (ARL) in Germany.
