Julio D. Dávila is a Professor of Urban Policy and International Development at University College London (UCL) and a former Director of The Bartlett Development Planning Unit at UCL. He is a civil engineer with an MSc in Development Planning and a PhD in Urban Planning and Economics. Julio has extensive international experience, having worked on research and consultancy projects in over 15 countries across Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. In 1987, he co-founded the journal Environment and Urbanization (Sage), then based at the International Institute for Environment and Development. His research expertise includes local government in progressive social and political transformation, governance of urban and peri-urban infrastructure (transport and WATSAN), rapid urbanisation, and urban health. Julio is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers (UK).
